How to Find a Perfect Destination for Your Golf Holidays in Europe
Golf is popular in many locations around Europe, so you will have plenty of options when you start to plan your European golf holiday. There are wonderful courses in a variety of countries throughout the continent to pick from, in addition to amazing history and culture to be experienced. The hardest part of a golf holiday in Europe just might be the planning process, since there are so many excellent destinations to pick from.
Try using the tips below to help narrow down your search and settle on a destination that will be perfect for your trip.
- Think about the weather. The weather makes up an important part of any golf trip, as you will be spending most of your time outdoors. While you can’t predict specifically what the weather will be like on the days that you visit, you can look at the weather averages to get a good idea of what you expect. If you like the weather hot and dry, find a climate around Europe that fits that mold. If you prefer cooler weather and don’t mind a little rain, you can look for that as an alternative. Of course, the time of year you decide to travel will also have an effect on the weather.
- Travel distance. Think also about how far you want to travel, and how you want to get there. If you are planning to fly to your destination, how close is the nearest airport? How far will you have to drive from the airport to get to your accommodations? It is completely up to you whether you would like to travel a short distance or if you are happy to take more time – but be sure to think it through before making your reservations.
- Plenty of courses. If you plan to stay for a week or more, you will want to be sure there are plenty of golf courses to play in the area. You don’t want to be stuck playing the same one or two courses day after day, so look around to see how many various courses you could play within a short drive of your lodging. Playing a few different courses is a great way to keep the holiday exciting from start to finish. There are plenty of locations around Europe with several golf courses to pick from, so you should have more than enough options to consider.
